UPDATED: Police Apprehend 20 As Yoruba Nation Agitators Invade Oyo Secretariat

Twenty suspected members of the separatist Yoruba nation agitation group have have been arrested for attacking Oyo state government secretariat Agodi, Ibadan.

The Oyo State Police Public Relation Officer Adewale Oshifeso made this known in a release made available to the newsmen in Ibadan.

According to him, the suspects who were on military camouflage came heavily armed in an unregistered silver colored Nissan urban caravan bus.

Sixty seven cutlasses,three pump action guns, two hundred and ninety one cartridges, five bullet proof vest,six pair of boots, ten megaphones, three oodua styles beret caps and oodua nation agitation flag were found on them.

The release says they were overpowered by security agencies that quickly responded to the emergency call.

The release says the commissioner of police h as detailed a highly powered investigation team led by deputy commissioner of police in charge of state criminal investigation department to unravel circumstances surrounding the incident.

The release adds that the Oyo state police command wants residents to be generous with information and cooperate with the command in a bid to rid the state of criminal elements who intend to propagate the separatist agenda.

The oyo state government House agodi -Ibadan was attacked on Saturday morning.

It would be recalled that the agitators had eleven months ago staged same attack on some southwest states including Amuludun FM, a branch of Radio Nigeria Ibadan.
