Chief Imam Of Ogbomosho, Teliat Ayilara Douses Tension Over Family’s Position
By Sanusi Abdullahi Oyelekan.
The Chief of Ogbomosho Land, Dr Teliat Ayilara (PhD) has reacted to the News Conference held yesterday (Monday 29th April, 2024) by the Oyo State chapter of Ayilara Family where it was reported that Sheikh Imam was disowned.
Reacting to INTEGRITY NEWS correspondent on Tuesday morning shortly via telephone conversation, the Chief Imam doused the tension by saying, the issue was a family matter which must be respected and restricted to the family.
According to the Imam’s statement, “There is no cause for alarm as it is simply a family matter which must be respected and restricted to the family”, Chief Imam posited.
Recall that, the family of Ayilara Descendant of the popular Sheikh Uthman Ayilara in Ogbomosho, yesterday (Monday 29th April, 2024) held a Press Conference in Ibadan where it was reported that it disowned the current Chief Imam of Ogbomosho Land, Teliat Olushina Ayilara.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Prince Hassan Ayilara argued that the Chief Imam, Teliat Olushina became the Chief Imam of Ogbomosho Land, through manipulations, backed by some powerful interests in Ogbomosho Land, insisting that the Chief Imam was not a progenitor of Sheikh Uthman Ayilara or from any of the six recognised Chief Imam families in Ogbomosho Land, namely Bango, Alawiye, Abogunde, Aduinin, Ile Imam and Ayilara.
The Ayilara family spokesman also hinted that the family has though commenced legal action to address the anomaly of having Alhaji Teliat Olushina as the Chief Imam of Ogbomosho but decided to equally placed on record that the Ayilara’s family was not in support of threat calls to the Soun of Ogbomosho Land, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye by the Chief Imam Teliat Olushina.
However, it was gathered from an undisclosed source that some Muslim leaders within the state had chosen to intervene in the matter while a committee was inaugurated for the intervention.
