JUST-IN: TCN Blames Persistent Blackout On National Grid Shutdown, Says Restoration Takes Time
By Sanusi Abdullahi Oyelekan.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has on Tuesday evening blamed the total Blackout currently being experienced across the country on the total shutdown of the transmission by the striking organized Labour.
Speaking to our correspondent on anonymity, one of the Engineers handling National Grid said, the TCN has initiated National Grid Restoration beginning from Shiroro, process progressing gradually.
He said, “The progress of electricity distribution is currently moving slowly, with the Shiroro Substation partly restored to supply power to the Katampe substation.
“Even though the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC has ended the strike, the progress in restoring the grid has been slow. Only Shiroro Hydropower is gradually increasing its output to supply the transmission lines”, he remarked.
In a recent statement, the Transmission Company of Nigeria informed that the nationwide blackout experienced yesterday (Monday) was caused by the organized Labour’s planned strike, leading to the complete shutdown of the National Grid.
