Islamic Organisation Inaugurates Foundation To Cater For Vulnerable Nigerians In UK

Council of Nigerian Muslim Organisations, CNMO, United Kingdom has inaugurated Al-Ihsan Zakat & Sadaqat Foundation.

The foundation, which would cater for the welfare and empowerment of Nigerian Muslims in the United Kingdom, was inaugurated at Assalatur Rahman Islamic Association, UK’ s Central Mosque, London.

The Guest Speaker and Head of Community Engagement, National Zakat Foundation, UK, Dr Abdulhaqq Baker, while speaking on the topic “Zakat and Sadaqat: Building Ethical Communities” emphasized that if well implemented, Zakat has the potential to wipe poverty among the Muslims.

He noted that Zakat purifies the wealth of the giver and serves as a vital mechanism for wealth redistribution, alleviating poverty, and building strong communities by supporting the needy and fostering social harmony.

In a virtual address, the former Executive Secretary, Muslim Ummah of South-West Nigeria, MUSWEN, Professor Daud Noibi, who was also the first Imam of the
Council of Nigerian Muslim Organisations, CNMO, UK, lauded the initiative stressing that the Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation would go a long way in bringing relief to the vulnerable individuals among Muslims in the UK.

Earlier, the Chairman, Al-Ihsan Zakat & Sadaqat Foundation, Alhaji Maroof Adeoye said the initiative of the foundation was aimed at ensuring that those who are struggling, whether with food, housing, education, health, or day-to-day needs, receive support in a dignified and compassionate way.

“We live in a time when many families around us are facing hardship. As a community, *it is our responsibility to ensure that no one feels forgotten, no one feels alone, and no one is left behind When we stand together, when we pool our resources, when we lift others, Allah lifts us”.

Alhaji Adeoye noted that through the initiative , a sustainable system would be created to uplift the disadvantaged
members of the Nigerian Muslim community.

“This initiative represents hope. It represents unity. And it represents the best of who we are as Muslims, a people of mercy, generosity, and collective care. ”

The programme featured the inauguration of two trustees for the foundation, and they are Professor Daud Noibi and popular Islamic scholar, Sheikh Muideen Najimdeen.

Other arms of the foundation inaugurated while their members were presented with certificates, include Trustees, Shariah Compliance Board, Advocates, Ambassadors, Audit & Compliance, as well as Independent Examines.

The programme brought together scholars, Islamic leaders, and Muslim organisations among whom are the President, Muslim Ummah of South-West Nigeria, MUSWEN, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo and the new Executive Secretary of MUSWEN, Professor Lateef Abass who both joined virtually.
