Industrial court stops NLC from embarking on planned strike
The National Industrial Court in Abuja has stopped the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) from embarking on its planned strike.
The strike slated for Wednesday over fuel subsidy removal was halted by the court on Monday June 5, 2023.
Justice Olufunke Anuwe issued a restraining order, preventing the NLC and its affiliates from proceeding with the scheduled strike.
“The court’s decision will remain in effect until the main suit is heard and determined,” Justice Anuwe said.
The court also directed that the originating summons and motion on notice be served to the NLC before the next adjourned date of June 19.
“These court orders were issued in response to an ex parte application made by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, seeking to prevent the planned strike,” added Anuwe.
