Tinubu arrives in France in first assignment outside Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has on Tuesday arrived in Paris, the capital of France, for a two-day New Global Financial Pact summit.
Tinubu left Abuja via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport earlier today, Tuesday, for the event slated for June 22 and 23, in his first trip outside Nigeria as the president of the West African country.
During his visit to Paris, the President will meet with international leaders to evaluate and sign a New Global Financial Pact that prioritizes poor countries for assistance and investment in the aftermath of climate change, the energy crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The President, who is at the event with the members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and other government officials, is expected to return over the weekend.
The Summit, which will be hosted by President Emmanuel Macron, will be held at Palais Brongniart.
Four major objectives for the Summit have been announced and will be followed up by four working groups:
Restoring fiscal space to countries facing short-term difficulties, especially the most indebted countries, Promoting private sector development in low-income countries, Encouraging investment in green infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing countries and Mobilising innovative financing for countries vulnerable to climate change.
