Olubadan Commiserates With Muslim Community Over Death Of Sheikh Alaga
The death of Sheikh Abdulfatai Adio Alaga, the second in command to the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdulganiy Ajigbotomokekere has been described as a big loss to Ibadanland in general and the Muslim community in particular.
This was contained in the condolence message issued by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen. Lekan Balogun, CFR, Alli Okunmade II through his Personal Assistant (Media), Oladele Ogunsola and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Thursday.
The late Islamic leader was said to have passed on on Tuesday at the age of 80 years having been born in 1944.
Oba Balogun recalled that the late Sheikh Alaga was a very dependable and loyal lieutenant of his leaders in the Islamic circle, making good representations anytime he was called upon to stand in for any of them, adding, “his death is a great loss to the League of Imams and Alfas both in and outside the state.
“A leader in his own right, he was very passionate about anything that pertains to Ibadan, ready to commit both his time and resources without making noise about it. He led a very good life and left good and enduring legacies for his children and family. The Islamic world has lost a refined and complete gentleman cleric”, Oba Balogun added.
Commiserating with the Chief Imam of Ibadanland and the entire Muslim community, Olubadan noted that “we should all take the death of our dear brother in the usual Islamic way of returning all praises to the Almighty Allah, the giver and taker of life and the all powerful and all knowing for we have no power to say no when He says yes.
“We will miss him, no doubt, but, we have to console ourselves with his good deeds while here with us and pray for the forgiveness of his shortcomings and for his return to be accepted by the Almighty Allah. I share with the family the grief of this moment and pray that the Almighty Allah will comfort and uphold all of you”, Olubadan said further.
