Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Anthony Joshua on his victory over Jermaine Franklin

The president lauded the impressive victory of the Nigerian-born boxer, who triumphed over a tough contender in Jermaine Franklin in an intense match.

President Buhari gave his commendation in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Sunday April 2, 2023.

Buhari praised Joshua for his tenacity and resilience. He stated that Joshua is a typical example of how victory can be achieved through hard work, patience, dedication, persistence and humility.

Buhari commended Joshua for his bravery and dedication, both in and out of the ring, and wished him luck in achieving one of the most remarkable comebacks in boxing history.

Hailing his doggedness in the ring, the president expressed hope that Joshua’s successes on the global stage will motivate up-and-coming athletes, especially sportspeople, to stay determined and not be disheartened by brief failures and stumbles.
