Breaking: Nigerian kickboxer Israel Adesanya reclaims middleweight in knockout win over Alex Pereira
Nigerian kickboxing sensation, Israel Adesanya has reclaimed his middleweight title after beating long-term rival Alex Pereira in a brilliant fashion at UFC 287.
‘The Last Stylebender’ was on top of his form and produced a brutal second-round knockout to emerge victorious over the Brazilian fighter and take back the title that he lost in November last year.
The two middleweights are meeting for the fourth time, their second inside the octagon, and it was the first occasion in which Adesanya has come out on top.
Pereira defeated Adesanya in a contentious points decision in their first fight. Adesanya was in the lead during their second kickboxing match when he was eliminated. Adesanya was in the lead again in their first MMA fight in November, but he lost in the decisive round.
At the end of the fight, Adesanya said he was “playing possum” against the fence, waiting for a moment to strike.
The win over Pereira is Adesanya’s 24th in his career in mixed martial arts (MMA) and only has two losses to his career record.
