Breaking news: Former ICJ judge and founder of Crescent University, Prince Abdul Jabbar Bola Ajibola, dies at 89!

Prince Abdul Jabbar Bola Ajibola, a former judge at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands, has passed away.

The legal icon who was also a former Nigerian attorney general, passed away at the age of 89.

Ajibola, the founder of Crescent University in Abeokuta, passed away at midnight on Saturday following a protracted illness brought on by advancing age.

The eldest child of the late jurist, Segun Ajibola, SAN, disclosed this in a statement, on Sunday in Abeokuta.

He wrote, “With a very deep heart and gratitude to Almighty Allah.

“Our Dad, Prince Bola Ajibola, departed this world over midnight. May Almighty Allah bless him with Aljanah Firdaus.”

Bola Ajibola was Attorney-General of the Nigerian Federation between September 12, 1985 through December 4, 1991. He succeed Chike Offodile (1984-1985) who himself succeeded Richard Akinjide (1979-1983) and Ajibola was succeed by Clement Akpamgbo (1991-1993) who himself was succeeded by Olu Onagoruwa (November 1993 – September 1994).

Bola Ajibola, today, was a renowned world class figure having served as World Court Judge at The Hague.

He was also the Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom just like he was Vice President of the World Bank, New York, in the United States of America.
