Peter Obi denies alleged apology from British govt over his detention

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has denied a claim that the British government had apologized for his detention by immigration officials on Thursday.

Integrity News reported that immigration officers at Heathrow Airport in London detained the former governor of Anambra due to an alleged impersonation.

However, a rumor that the British government had apologized to Obi for how he was treated at the airport surfaced on Wednesday.

In response to the news, the head of media and communications for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Diran Onifade, issued a statement, denying the report while emphasizing that he was unaware of such an apology.

“We would like to state emphatically that we are not aware of any such apology and have not issued any statement whatsoever, in that regard.
