Kwara Gov, Emir of Ilorin, others mourn late Elerin of Erin Ile
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has commiserated with the people of Erin Ile over the death of the Elerin of Erin Ile, Oba AbdulGaniyu Ajibola Olusokun II, describing the development as the end of a fine era.
Oba Ajibola, a first class traditional ruler in Kwara died on Saturday in his palace at Erin-Ile in Oyun local government area of Kwara State at the age of 81.
In a statement signed by Rafiu Ajakaye, chief press Secretary to the governor on Saturday, Abdulrazaq extolled the late monarch as a statesman and a great leader of his people under whom Erin-Ile recorded many developmental strides.
“I send our heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended families of the late first-class monarch as well as the good people of Erin-Ile and Oyun Local Government Area on this sad development. We are comforted by the great legacies of the monarch,” he said.
“Our prayers are with the family and the good people of the community at this time and always. We pray Allah, exalted is He, to grant Al-Jannah to the Elerin of Erin Ile and comfort his family.”
In his part, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, described the death of the Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Ibrahim Abdulganiyu Ajibola Olusookun II, as a monumental loss to the people of the state and humanity in general.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari stated this in his condolence message issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, on Saturday.
The Emir noted that the late monarch led his people for 41 years with commitments, dedication and fear of God adding that, “history will continue to be kind to him, even, at death.”
He also expressed condolences to the deceased’s immediate and extended family members, asking them to take comfort in the fact that late Oba Olusookun II lived an excellent life deserving of emulation, with historic achievements for his community.
Similarly, the one time Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed says the passing of Elerin of Erin Ile Oba AbdulGaniyu Ajibola Olusokun II is a significant loss felt by the people of the state.
Alhaji Ahmed, in a condolence message issued via his official Facebook page, described the late Elerin as a remarkable monarch whose contributions to the development, peace, and advancement of Erin-Ile and its people are indelible.
“I join the Erin-Ile community in mourning a remarkable monarch who exemplified visionary leadership, dedicating himself to advancing the ancient town and its people. Indeed, he was a notable partner in building enduring peace and unity in the state.
“I offer my deepest sympathies to the Royal family, the entire Erin-Ile community and all those affected by this significant loss. I pray Allah forgives the late Elerin and grants him Aljanah Firdaus.”
