President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his commitment to the Nigerian people, promising not to disappoint those who placed their trust in him by electing him as their president.

The pledge was made during the grand investiture ceremony heldoon Thursday May 25, 2023, in Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari, before conferring the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) – Nigeria’s highest national honour on Tinubu, praised the President-elect’s competence and expressed satisfaction in handing over the nation to capable hands. Buhari stated, “I have run my course. I am happy that I am handing over to competent hands.”

Addressing the audience at the investiture, Tinubu humbly acknowledged the goodwill and trust bestowed upon him by the Nigerian people.

He recognized the immense responsibility that comes with leading a nation of over 200 million people, emphasizing his determination to fulfill his duties effectively.

Acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead, Tinubu asserted his commitment to making progress in various sectors, including security, the economy, agriculture, jobs, education, health, and power.

Jagaban, as he is widely known, declared that he would neither disappoint the people nor President Buhari, stating, “In this, I shall disappoint neither them nor you, Mr. President.”

Tinubu also expressed his unwavering faith in Nigeria’s purpose and collective ability to overcome obstacles on its path.

He acknowledged that the journey may not always be smooth but emphasized his confidence in the country’s resilience.
Furthermore, the President-elect lauded President Buhari for his commitment to progressive and democratic governance.

Tinubu commended Buhari’s courageous decisions, particularly highlighting the designation of June 12 as Democracy Day and the posthumous conferment of the GCFR title on late Chief MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the annulled 1993 presidential election.

He thanked President Buhari for bestowing the highest national honors on him and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, commending the diligent work of the transition council, led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and expressed appreciation for the comprehensive scorecard presented in the transition documents.

The investiture ceremony symbolized Nigeria’s vibrant and true democracy, highlighting the seamless transition of power from one leader to the next.
