NMDPRA seals Furtunate filling station in Ilorin, warns against fuel hording
The NMDPRA, responsible for regulating the midstream and downstream sectors of the petroleum industry, took swift action against the Furtunate filling station situated along Zango area in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, due to alleged violations of regulations and practices that exacerbated the fuel scarcity situation in the area.
Reports suggest that the filling station was involved in hoarding fuel and selling it at inflated prices, taking advantage of the increased demand and limited supply.
This unethical behavior has caused significant inconvenience for residents of Ilorin, who had been enduring long queues and fuel shortages.
The NMDPRA’s intervention aims to send a strong message to other fuel stations engaging in similar practices, emphasizing that such actions will not be tolerated.
The sealing of the Furtunate filling station serves as a warning to other operators in the industry that they must adhere to regulations and prioritize the needs of the public.
It is gathered that NMDPRA is working in collaboration with other relevant agencies to monitor fuel stations across the state and ensure compliance with pricing regulations and ethical business practices.
This concerted effort seeks to alleviate the hardships faced by the public and maintain stability in the fuel supply.
Many state leaders such as Kwara state governor Mallam Abdulrahamn Abdulrazaq and the Osun state governor Ademola Adeleke have issued stern warnings against stockpiling of the fuel in their respective states with the ultimate goal of ensuring an adequate and affordable fuel supply for the people as a whole.
