The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar, has directed the Muslim faithful in the country to start looking for the new crescent of Muharram, effective from Monday July 17, 2023, equivalent Islamic calendar 29th of Zulhajj 1444AH .

In a statement signed by the Chairman advisory committee on religious affairs, Sultanate council Sokoto State, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, stated that “if sighted the information should be forwarded to the nearest village or district head for onward communication to the Sultan of Sokoto.”
