Kwara INEC REC completes tenure, calls for sustained integrity among electoral officers

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kwara State, Mallam Garba Madami has handed over to the State Administrative Secretary as he completed his five-year tenure.

Mallam Madami thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and other stakeholders at the State Office in Ilorin for providing him the opportunity to serve as presiding officer in Kwara State for a period he described as unforgettable.

He praised the people of Kwara State, particularly the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, and other traditional and religious leaders, for fostering a calm environment conducive to the successful conduct of elections throughout the state.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner also appreciated INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmud Yakubu for giving him the necessary support to make the task less burdensome, especially during the 2019 and 2023 General Elections.

Mallam Madami urged election officers and other stakeholders not to surrender their integrity in carrying out their duties, stressing that their work is vital to nation building since it lays the way for people’s votes to prevail at the polls.

While speaking, Mr Shehu Menyaga, Administrative Officer at the INEC headquarters in Kwara State, praised the departed Resident Electoral Commissioner for his exceptional leadership abilities and promised to build on his legacy.

Electoral Officers and other stakeholders at the ceremony commended Mallam Garba Madami for serving with passion, integrity and commitment.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of gifts to the outgoing REC, Mallam Madami by staff of INEC and a Former Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Kwara State chapter, Alhaji Umar Akanbi.
