Zamfara gov seeks USAID assistance in healthcare
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has stated that standardising the healthcare system remains one of the most significant challenges facing the state.
He made this statement during a courtesy visit at the government house in Gusau by Elaine Baruwa, the Regional Director for Africa, Cambodia, and Bangladesh at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Governor Lawal acknowledged that “a considerable portion of the state’s population is impoverished, making it crucial to improve primary health centers for effective healthcare delivery, particularly at the grassroots level.”
To tackle these issues, his administration is actively devising policies.
Governor Lawal sought collaboration with USAID to revitalize healthcare services in the state.
This partnership would involve training healthcare personnel, providing necessary infrastructure, and supplying essential equipment to the state’s health institutions.
Elaine Baruwa, the Regional Director for USAID, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to assisting Zamfara State in enhancing effective healthcare service delivery.
USAID has already been working in the state and will continue to support its healthcare initiatives.
