205 Nigerians comprising adult men and women as well as children from the war torn Sudan have arrived Abuja.

The plane belonging to a Sudanese airline conveying them touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Pilgrims wing at 12:09 Nigerian time.

Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA led by the Director General, Mustapha Ahmed and the Director, Migrants Affairs in the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons were on the ground to receive the returnees.

Addressing the evacuees, the Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed said they would be given cash to facilitate their transportation to their destinations.

He said, efforts to evacuate 40 more Nigerians trapped in that country through Jeddah were ongoing.

This brings to 2858 the total of Nigerians returned from Sudan since war broke out in that country.

In a remark, the Director, Migrants Affairs, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Ambassador Cathrine Udida said the returnees would undergo psycho social therapy to stabilize them.

According to her, those who were pursuing various academic Programmes in Sudan would be assisted to continue their education back home.

Some of the returnees including Jafar Mohammed and Mohammed Najeeb-Salman both university students and Rafisat Bello, a mother of three expressed divergent views on their treatment by officials in that country before their departure.

They expressed the hope that the present administration under President Bola Tinubu would improve the various sectors including education, for them to remain at home.

Vehicles from some state government transport companies were seen on the ground to transport those from their states to their destinations.
