FG sanctions payment of ₦25,000 allowance for medical doctors, dentists

The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration has sanctioned the payment of N25,000 of peculiar allowance for medical doctors and dentists in hospitals, medical centres, and clinics in the federal public service.

The approval was contained in a letter dated July 26, 2023, titled ‘Accoutrement allowance for medical and dental doctors in hospitals, medical centres, and clinics in federal MDAs’.

The Federal Government approved the payment of an accoutrement allowance of N25,000 per quarter to medical and dental doctors in federal public hospitals, medical centers, and clinics, according to a letter issued on Thursday, and the allowance is to be paid from the overhead budget.

Dr. Uche Ojinmah, President of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, stated that the association expected the full fulfillment of the agreements they had with the government and expressed gratitude to the executive for taking action on one of its agreements.

According to the letter, “The approval takes effect from June 1, 2023. All inquiries relating to this circular should be directed to the commission.”
