Oshiomole Visits Tinubu In Lagos, Expresses Optimism Over Economic Recovery, Edo Guber Victory
Former Governor of Edo State and a serving Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, recently paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu’s residence in Lagos. The visit, according to Oshiomhole, was to pay Sallah homage to the President, express respect, and discuss some of the positive developments underway in the country.
Oshiomhole highlighted his renewed hope in Nigeria’s economic prospects, particularly praising the Central Bank’s effective management strategies that have led to the Naira appreciating and finding its level against the dollar. He cited foreign media reports naming the Naira as potentially the best-performing currency of 2024, a remarkable turnaround given its previous trajectory.
Discussing the state of the economy, Oshiomhole expressed optimism that despite current high prices, the situation is improving. He underscored the importance of economic stability and the ongoing efforts to improve earnings and alleviate the public’s financial stress.
The conversation then shifted to the upcoming elections in Edo. Oshiomhole conveyed his confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s preparation and unity, stating that the party has resolved all issues from the primaries and is ready to launch a comprehensive campaign. He contrasted this with the crises facing other parties, including the Labour Party, emphasizing the APC’s advantage.
Oshiomhole assured that the APC has a strong campaign council in place and is awaiting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) signal to commence campaigning on April 24. He shared his enthusiasm for the electoral process and the strategic mobilization efforts to resonate with the people of Edo.
The meeting with President Tinubu was described as uplifting, with Oshiomhole leaving with a sense of paternal support, yet fully aware that the responsibility to mobilize, vote, and secure victory in Edo rests with the APC’s local leadership and supporters.
