Samuel Akintola Airport’s New Manager, Afuwape Resumes Duty, Meets Governor Makinde

The New Manager of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan, Mr. Gbenga Afuwape, has met with Governor Oluseyi Makinde on how to ensure smooth upgrade of the airport.

Mr Afuwape who upon resumption met with Governor Makinde at the airport purposely to fashion out ways to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated time.

It was gathered the resumption also afforded him opportunity to meet Vice President Kashim Shetima at the airport.

In order to record success during his tenure, Mr Afuwape also engaged FAAN Management, Upgrade Committee Representatives, Stakeholders, andCommunity leaders.

During a brief handover ceremony, he emphasized teamwork as essential for development and success.

He has also conducted on-the-spot inspections of the airport upgrade.

On security, he revealed that efforts are ongoing to meet relevant security agencies, which include: Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Army and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

Mr Afuwape, who holds Bachelor degree in English has extensive experiences in airport operations, having worked at Nnamdi Azikiwe and Murtala Muhammed International Airports.

He has also served as a Terminal Manager and Technical Adviser to the Regional Manager South West.

He has a background in journalism having worked with the Vanguard Media Limited between 1995 and 2003

It is expected that his leadership is expected to drive progress at Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport Ibadan.
