PAG Calls for Spiritual Rejuvenation as Muslims Commence Ramadan Fast, Seeks Assistance for Palliative Programme

Political Awareness Group, PAG has called on Muslims worldwide to reflect on the significance of Ramadan and embrace spiritual renewal by moving closer to Allah.

A statement jointly signed by the PAG Chairman, Dr lukman Tunde Fasasi and Mr. Muftau Adesola Bamidele states that witnessing the beginning of Ramadan in 2025 is a grace from Allah.

The group prayed to Allah to forgive all Muslims who passed away between the last Ramadan and now, and to witness many more fasting periods in good health and with abundant wealth.

“Reflecting on the significance of Ramadan—a month of mercy, forgiveness, and salvation from Hellfire—we recognize that the next 28 or 29 days are a time for spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and drawing closer to Allah”.

” Allah says in the Qur’an: O you who have believed, fasting has been prescribed upon you as it was prescribed upon those before you, that you may attain Taqwa (piety) (Qur’an 2:183)”

According to the statement, Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink; it is about attaining piety, practising self-control, and purifying our hearts from sins.

“It is an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with Allah and seek His mercy. Fasting is also an Act of Worship, as reported in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, all his past sins will be forgiven.” Ramadan is the month in which the Qur’an was revealed as guidance for mankind”

The Political Awareness Group, PAG called on Muslims to strive to read Quran, understand, and implement its teachings in their daily lives.

“Furthermore, Ramadan is a time to be increasingly charitable and kind to the less fortunate. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was the most generous during Ramadan, and it is a time to give Zakat, Sadaqah (charity), and to help those in need. By doing so, we purify our wealth and earn great rewards”

The Group also solicited from wealthy individuals and those with the capacity and piety to support PAG Ramadan Palliative Programme with any amount they can afford.

This initiative according to the group is aimed at providing relief to those who are fasting but lack the means.

“The details of our account are as follows: Account Name:Patriots Advancement for Good Leadership
Account Number:0096446444
Bank:Sterling Bank”

The statement noted that Ramadan is also a time for Seeking Forgiveness and Making Dua (supplications to Allah).

“The last ten nights of Ramadan are especially significant, as one of them is Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Decree, which is better than a thousand months. We should seek forgiveness from Allah, make sincere dua, and strive for righteousness”

” We must adopt the teachings of Ramadan even after it ends, so we do not become ceremonial Muslims. Ramadan teaches us discipline and devotion. Let us not revert to old habits once it concludes, but continue to uphold our prayers, acts of kindness, and our connection with Allah”
