Nigerian troops repel attack by armed insurgents

A terrorist attack on a police outpost in Jakana, Kaga Local Government in Borno State, North-eastern Nigeria, has been repelled by the joint forces of Nigerian troops.

The terrorists reportedly attacked the outstation of the Nigeria Police Force located in the Jakana area of the state by shooting at police personnel, which drew the attention of counter-insurgency troops who immediately engaged the rampant armed men.

According to an eyewitness, the group arrived at the scene in Kaga Local Government Area at about 2:30 am and started shooting at the police base using a general purpose machine gun (GPMG).

Security operatives, including the 29 Task Force brigade fighting patrol,
according to an eyewitness account, engaged the insurgents in a gun duel for about 30 minutes before successfully repelling the attack.

There was no casualty reported. The security team, however, recovered some of the weapons and bulletproof jackets used in the attack by the armed terror group.

One of the terrorist groups operating in Nigeria, Boko Haram, is an Islamist terrorist group operating in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger. The group aspire to establish a Sharia State in Nigeria and West Africa, de-stabilise the Nigerian government and remove western influence from the country.
