Kwara gets new Grand Khadi of Shari’a Court of Appeal, pledges to work on divorces, increase courtrooms

The Kwara State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen as the substantive Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Shari’a Court of Appeal.

The designation was considered at the Committee of a Whole chaired by Speaker Yakubu Salihu after a screening in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Speaking after his confirmation, Justice Kamaldeen promised to increase Shariah courtrooms in the state for easy access to justice.

Justice Kamaldeen promised to continue using the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process to lessen divorces in the state of Harmony.

The National Judicial Commission, NJC, approved the substantive Grand Khadi’s appointment in January 2023.

Kamaldeen was named Acting Grand Khadi on February 16, 2022, after his predecessor Justice Muhammad Ola AbdulKadir retired from the service.
