There are attempts to manipulate Nigerians against me — Obi

The Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi has alleged that there was an attempt to manipulate Nigerians against him while saying that he is under pressure to leave the West African country.

Without providing evidence, the third placed candidate in the 2023 presidential election asserted that it was part of the government’s effort to “divert attention” from “blatantly stolen” elections.

The presidential election results have already been contested by Mr. Obi and his party in the Court of Appeal.

While debunking the viral ‘Yes Daddy’ audio conversation between him and David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church, via his official Twitter page, Obi said “The attempts to manipulate Nigerians is very sad and wicked.

He added: “Let me reiterate that the audio call being circulated is fake, and at no time throughout the campaign and now did I ever say, think, or even imply that the 2023 election is, or was a religious war,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Okonkwo, Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) spokesperson, and Valentine Obienyem, a spokesperson for Mr Obi, earlier confirmed the authenticity of the audio but gave a different interpretation of the conversation.

Peter Gregory Obi CON is a Nigerian businessman and politician who served as governor of Anambra from March to November 2006, February to May 2007, and June 2007 to March 2014.
