When the gown meets the beads: UNIILESA VC set for transformation, visits the Sawe of Ilesa

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Professor Taiwo Ashaolu, has led the management team of the newly established institution to the royal palace of the Sawe of Ilesa, Chief Akinwande Akinola, on 18 April 2023 with a target to rub shoulders with the community in transforming the University.
This momentous visit marks a key step in the university’s mission to build a strong foundation for its future success.
Professor Asaolu informed Chief Akinola and the people of Ijesaland that the government has sent a letter of introduction to the NUC, emphasizing that his staff have started work immediately.
The professor of accounting and finance promised that the administration will make sure the university is highly regarded both inside and outside Nigeria.


He confirmed that the institution will open with four faculties: Management and Social Sciences, Science, Arts, and Education, and that the university is working to complete the admission process in time for the upcoming academic year.
Chief Akinola, who is one of the driving forces behind the transformation of the former Osun State College of Education into a university, in his statement, reaffirmed Ijeshaland’s support for the university and highlighted that he had overseen the Ilesa University committee in laying the foundation for the university to be incorporated into the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System.
The monarch assured that the Ijesa people will assist the university to distinguish itself from other similar institutions.

The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by high-ranking officials from the institution, including the Registrar, Mr. Funso Olawale Ojo; the Bursar, Dr. Mukaila Oyesegun Oyekanmi and the Librarian, Mr. Adewale Amobi Ogunsipe.
Also in attendance were Professor Rotimi Tayo, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola, Barrister Dosu Babatunde, and Dr. Femi Esan.

Earlier, the team paid similar visit to the Owa Obokun, the paramount ruler of ijesaland, Ọba Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran in his palace on Monday the 17th of April 2023.

The goal of the courtesy visits was to seek the cooperation of the royal father and community leaders towards making the institution a shining nationwide example of higher education.
