Staff demotion: Osun State Gov’t refutes claims of half-salary payment, demoting Workers

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denounced rumors indicating that he intends to demote civil servants and pay them only half of their salaries monthly.
The statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the current administration in the state has not and would not demote workers or introduce half salary.
In a statement, the governor dismissed the accusations as unfounded and intended to weaken the strong relationship between Governor Adeleke and the workers of Osun, including those in the formal and informal sectors.
The governor stated that the partnership between his administration and the workers was strengthened during the May 1st workers’ day celebration, where labor leaders praised Governor Adeleke’s outstanding dedication to workers’ well-being.
He mentioned that the public and labor movement recognized the current administration’s efforts to settle unpaid salaries and arrears, which were inherited from the previous APC government in Osun State.
The strategy implemented to address years of unpaid half-salaries and pensions owed to workers was also commended.
In light of this, he urged the public to disregard the false information regarding the demotion of workers and the revival of half salaries. Governor Adeleke is a champion of good governance and community development, and he is committed to safeguarding the rights and goals of Osun’s workforce.
