The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has advised airline operators to temporarily relocate their aircraft from the General Aviation Terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja to alternate airports.
This directive was contained in a circular issued and signed by the Regional General Manager, Kabir Mohammed.
According to Mohammed, the relocation order is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the airport ahead of the presidential inauguration on May 29.
Muhammad said the operators have been given till May 22 to do so.
May 29 is a Democracy Day in Nigeria. The day marks the day the military handed over power to an elected civilian government in 1999, marking the beginning of the longest continuous civilian rule since Nigeria’s independence from colonial rule in 1960. It is a tradition that has been held annually, beginning in the year 2000.
Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria is a service organization statutorily charged to manage all commercial airports in Nigeria and provide service to both passenger and cargo airlines.
