Adeleke meets UNIOSUNTH resident doctors over planned strike

The Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, has met with the Association of Residents Doctors (ARD) in the state University Teaching Hospital with a plea to shelve their planned strike.

The ARD of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital had considered joining their counterpart in the federal hospitals for the five-day warning strike.

Findings show that the governor appealed to the executive of ARD not to embark on strike at a meeting held Wednesday.

A source privy to the meeting said the executive members had promised to brief members about the outcome of their meeting Thursday morning.

The source said, ‘it is obvious we are not going to join the strike.”

Meanwhile, the ARD, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ile-Ife, and Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa branches have joined the nationwide strike.

Findings showed that the hospitals joined their counterpart in the country for the warning strike on Wednesday.

The president of ARD, OAUTH, Dr. Anthony Aniforo, confirmed that the hospitals have joined the strike.

Efforts to speak with the president of ARD, Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Ojo O. O., proved abortive. He said the union leaders are still in the meeting.
