President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the February and March presidential and gubernatorial polls as a true manifestation of Nigeria’s democratic progress while adding that the current legal contests in tribunal court are the “beauty of democracy” in the country.

The president said this in his televised address to Nigerians on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the annulment of 12th June 1993 presidential election under the leadership of General Ibrahim Babangida.

This is one of few occasions that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be officially speaking on the February 25 presidential election.

The winner of the February 25, 2023 presidential election called for calm while stressing that ” the beauty of democracy is that those who win today can lose tomorrow and those who lose today will have an opportunity to compete and win in the next round of elections.”

He appealed to those who disagree with the outcome of the elections to take full advantage of the constitutional provisions to seek redress in court.

He added that it is one of the reasons why democracy is still the best form of government invented by man.

The Nigerian leader wrapped up his national address by pledging that ” for your trust and belief in us, I assure you that your sacrifice shall not be in vain.”

He promised to rule the country with fairness, faithfulness and respect for the rule of law.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate of Nigeria’s ruling party All Progressives Congress was declared as the winner of February 25 presidential election.

He received a total of 8,794,726 votes, the highest of all the candidates, to emerge victorious.

He also scored over 25 per cent of the votes cast in 30 states, more than the 24 states constitutionally required.
