Vincent Kompany’s Burnley faces Man City in Premier League 2023/2024 season opener

Manchester City will reunite with ex-captain Vincent Kompany as the league winners kick off the 2023/24 Premier League season against newly promoted Burnley on Friday, August 11.

The Pep Guardiola-led City have won the prestigious Premier League title in five of the past six seasons. Burnley manager, Vincent Kompany, had an 11 year spell at the Etihad Stadium, winning four league titles. A win for Kompany will be a dream come true against his former team.

In other matches, another new side, Sheffield United, will travel to London to play Crystal Palace on the opening weekend, while Luton Town will face Brighton for their first-ever Premier League game.

Arsenal, the runner up for 2022/2023 season, host Nottingham Forest, West Ham travel to Bournemouth and Everton host Fulham in the opening matches of the new campaign.

Tottenham will seek to earn maximum three points on the road against Brentford and Mauricio Pochettino takes on Liverpool in his first game as Chelsea manager on Super Sunday.

Ten Hag’s Manchester United will trade tackles with Wolves on the first Monday Night Football of the season to wrap up the week one encounters.

The 2023-24 Premier League season will round up on Sunday, 19 May 2024.

In a statement on Thursday, the Premier League said it was “committed to giving supporters a minimum of six weeks’ notice on broadcasting selections until December 2023, and five weeks’ from 24 January 2024”.
