Light of Faith Islamic Model Schools emerges victorious in 3rd Imolesports quiz competition

It was an exciting and captivating event organized by Ibraheem Akolade Oladimeji (Imolesports), a renowned sports OAP in Ibadan. The Sports Quiz Competition took place on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

The competition welcomed both public and private secondary schools from across the state.

The third edition of the competition was held at Dapo Aderogba Hall, NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, and showcased the growing enthusiasm for sports among the students in the state.

Aside from the sports quiz segments for the participating schools, outstanding individuals were honoured and recognised for their contributions to the world of sports.

The event was further enlivened by performances from various music artistes, up-and-coming sports OAPs, and the vibrant dance group, Da Crystal Dance Group, all the way from Lagos. It was an atmosphere filled with joy!

Participating schools included Adelagun Memorial Grammar School, Broadminds Model College, PeaceLand International Schools, Methodist Grammar School, His Royal Diadem College, Unique Legacy College, Light of Faith Islamic Schools, Lydmar Royal Academy, TMM Group of Schools, Glorious College, Oke Badan High School, and King Jozzy Private Schools.

The quiz commenced with a sports puzzle game, where schools tested their knowledge of various Olympic sports. This was followed by the first round of the quiz, eliminating six schools.

The remaining six schools proceeded to the final round. After a fierce and competitive contest, TMM Group of Schools emerged as the 2nd Runner-up, with Unique Legacy College securing the 1st Runner-up position. However, Light of Faith Islamic Model Schools emerged as the overall champion in this year’s Imole Sports Entertainment Sports Quiz Competition for 2023.

During his speech, the organizer Ibraheem Akolade Oladimeji (Imolesport) expressed his gratitude to all the participating schools, the organizing committee, the sponsors, the awardees, the invited guests, his colleagues at the NUJ and other media houses, well-wishers, and everyone who contributed financially, morally, and spiritually to the success of the event.

“I must sincerely appreciate everyone for their roles in making today’s event a success,” he said.

He vowed, “Next year’s edition will be better than this.”

Additionally, RT. Honourable AbdulWaheed Akintayo Ilumoka Presenter, an awardee and recently sworn-in Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, shared his excitement and urged sports enthusiasts, stakeholders, and all Nigerians to invest more in sports.

He highlighted its significance “as a means to combat boredom and negativity in society.”

The energetic and vibrant Oyetayo Oladimeji MC Handsome presented him with his award.

The event witnessed the presence of many radio and television personalities, including Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu, the General Manager of Pensioners Fm 106.7, Lori Papa Crooner, Alhaji Babatunde Saheed (Mr. Sports), Oyetayo Oladimeji (MC Handsome), Coach Wasiu Asanke, Coach Akeem (Coach Udi), Alhaja Muinat Babatunde Saheed, and Johnson Alagbe, the CEO of Mojoyinola Bread.

Certificates of participation were given to all the participating schools, accompanied by various consolation prizes. The winner, 1st Runner-up, and 2nd Runner-up received special prizes for their exceptional performances.

PeaceLand International Schools received a special gift for winning the Puzzle game. The award presentations concluded with a closing prayer.
