Kenyan woman delivers baby aboard express train

It was a moment of joy for a pregnant Kenyan woman who gave birth aboard an express train between Nairobi, the capital, and the coastal city of Mombasa.

Many Kenyans received the news with happiness after Kenya Railways published it on its Facebook account.

The mother of the baby was assisted by a doctor and a nurse were on the train at the time she came into labour.

The national rail company also shared images of one of the attendants cradling the newborn beside the mother and those who helped with the birth.

The mother was later taken to Mariakani sub county hospital for further medical assistance.

The statement reads, “We are delighted to share a heartwarming story of a mother who welcomed her bundle of joy on board the Madaraka Express Passenger Service train to Mombasa.

“We were blessed to have Dr. Indanyenyi Luseso onboard who performed the delivery, assisted by Ms. Fauziya Lugogo, a Nurse at Kenyatta National Hospital and our Madaraka Express Passenger Attendant, Ms. Mary Nyiha.

“Thereafter she was rushed to Mariakani subcounty hospital for further medical assistance. Both the mother and the baby are okay. We wish her well.”
