Tinubu meets Real Madrid defender, David Alaba, other Nigerians in diaspora in Paris

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held his first presidential diaspora engagement in Paris, France, in a significant development showcasing his plans for the Nigerians who are residing outside the shores of the country.

The meeting was part of President Tinubu’s engagement with Nigerians in the Diaspora during his visit to France to attend a two-day Global Financing Summit.

The engagement provided a forum for attendees to voice their experiences, challenges and aspirations for Nigeria.

The event was attended by a vibrant gathering of Nigerians residing in France, including Real Madrid and Austrian-Nigerian defender David Alaba, who has indicated a desire to reconnect with his Nigerian heritage.

Alaba was in Paris, and his meeting with the president sent him to the top of the headlines.

He presented President Tinubu with a Real Madrid jersey and posed for photos with the Nigerian delegation in France.

This is not the first time the solid center-back defender will have an engagement with Nigeria.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the player presented astate-of-the-art biodegradable toilet facility last year to the Ogere Remo community in Ogun state, south-west Nigeria.

Apart from showing support for the federal government’s effort to eradicate open defecation throughout Nigeria, Alaba also made a gesture in Ogere to identify with his ancestral roots.
