Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq sympathizes with Kwara community wrecked by flood

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has commiserated with the people of Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area, after a large expanse of farmlands and residential homes were washed away in the agrarian community.

While inspecting the aftereffects of the torrential rainfall that flooded the community, governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq reassured the flood victims of his administration’s continued support and intervention, especially at this crucial time.

The Governor expressed this at the Palace of the Emir of Lafiagi during his visit to the flooded agrarian community of Pututa village and Gwa bridge in Lafiagi town.

Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, who represented the Governor, sympathized with the people on the sad incident that occurred at the Pututa village and Gwa bridge in Lafiagi community where farmers lost farm investment worth millions of naira due to the ravaging flood in the community, according to a statement by Modupe Joel, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor.

In his part, the Emir of Lafiagi, Alh. Mohammed Kudi Kawu, said the flooding has been reoccurring for years and is mainly caused by the dredging of the Niger River, which is close to Lafiagi.

The royal father stressed that the repeated floods were overwhelming for the economy of the agrarian community.

He praised the state governor for responding promptly to their distress call in less than 24 hours than 24 hours.
