Just in: President of Guinea-Bissau meets Tinubu in Lagos

President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló is currently meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos where he’s currently on Eid Al adhaa holiday.

Tinubu welcomed his Guinea-Bissau counterpart, who also serves as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, at his Lagos mansion on Saturday.

Details of the meeting are unknown as of the time of filing this report, Daily Post reports.

Umaro Sissoco Embaló will be the first foreign leader to be officially received in Nigeria by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

More African presidents and leaders from other parts of the world are expected to meet the new Nigerian top executive in a matter of weeks to further strengthen ties in various sectors.

i-News Nigeria reported that Tinubu recently traveled to France on his first assignment outside the shores of Nigeria where he joined other world leaders in Paris to review and sign a New Global Financial Pact that places vulnerable countries on priority list for support and investment, following devastating impact of climate change, energy crisis, and after effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tinubu later travelled to London for a private visit, after the Paris Pact.

He returned to Nigeria on Tuesday and arrived at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

This marks the President’s first visit to Lagos since his inauguration as Nigeria’s 16th President on May 29, 2023, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Dele Alake.
