Kwara Police command to deploy technology to tackle crime – New CP

The Kwara State Police Command had expressed its readiness to give policing a facelift while pledging to adopt the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to tackle crime to the barest minimum.

The state Commissioner of Police (CP), Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi stated this during her maiden press conference in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The new CP noted that crime prevention methodology will also be deployed to send away criminals from the state.

She emphasized that the command will make criminal activity less appealing and rewarding for criminals.

The Commissioner stated that the command’s intelligence gathering strategy will be improved through coordination with sister security agencies in the state.

She added that the command will deploy available manpower and provide appropriate policing to allow commercial activity to flourish in the State of Harmony.

Mrs Adelesi explained that collaboration with neighboring states will be reinforced in order to prevent cross-border crime.

The Commissioner urged people of the state to provide information to the command about criminal activity so that action may be taken quickly.

i-News Nigeria earlier reported that the first female Commissioner of Police posted to Kwara State Command, Ebun Oluwarotimi Adelesi, officially assumed duty last week Wednesday.

In a statement ,spokesman of the command, SP Okasannmi Ajayi said the new commissioner of police took over the mantle of leadership of the command from the outgoing commissioner of police, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Paul Odama.

According to the statement, Commissioner of Police Ebun Oluwarotimi Adelesi hails from Sagamu, in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

She was enlisted to the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

She has worked in various Police commands and formations within and outside the country, where she held several Command positions at different times.
