Manchester United getting close on Onana deal

Manchester United and Inter Milan are getting closer to a deal for goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to Sky Sports News.

After Inter refused to shift on their £51 million (€60 million) asking price, it is said that conversations about a fee compromise have been quite constructive.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, and all sides remain eager to complete the transfer after United’s original approach of £38.5 million (€45 million) was rejected.

According to sources close to the player, both parties want to strike an agreement before Onana reports for Inter’s preseason on July 13.

Onana has stated his desire to move to Old Trafford and rejoin with his former Ajax boss, Erik ten Hag, who is driving the deal for the 27-year-old.

United are still looking into signing Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Urawa Red Diamonds after David De Gea failed to agree terms on a new deal and announced his departure from the club.

Meanwhile, Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is expected to hold talks with the Red Devils’ coach to discuss his role ahead of next season.

Maguire, 30, joined United in 2019 for £80 million, a world-record cost for a defender, but he only appeared in 16 games last season. The center-back has only two years left on his current contract.
