APC National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, has not resigned – Lawyer

The lawyer of Iyiola Omisore, Kayode Ajulo, has confirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary has not resigned from his position as widely reported.

Mr Ajulo disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.

The resignations of the APC chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and Mr Omisore have been making the rounds in the Nigerian media ahead of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Monday.

He said it was unlikely that both the national chairman and the party secretary would leave their positions at the same time.

As a result, he called Omisore’s rumored departure baseless and unfounded.

“Why must he resign? He is the National Secretary of the winning party that has just ushered in the new government of President Bola Tinubu.

“He is proud of what the president is doing, and the party enjoys the confidence of the president and vice versa.

“What he is doing now is to stabilise the political space and ensure that those who worked for the emergence of President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian people are happy with the government,” Mr Ajulo said.

i-News Nigeria reported that all is not well within the ruling party after news emerged that the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, has ended his days as the head of the APC.

Mr Omisore was also rumoured to have written his resignation letter ahead of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings of the party scheduled for Monday, 17 July 2023.
