Ikpeazu Under Investigation As Alex Otti Alleges ₦10 Billion Airport Funds Diverted To 32 Accounts

During his monthly media chat titled “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians” at Government House Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State accused the previous administration led by Okezie Ikpeazu of transferring N10 billion airport funds into 32 different company accounts.

Otti revealed that the funds were moved from the state government’s account before seeking approval from the Abia State House of Assembly. Despite Ikpeazu’s denial, Otti emphasized that media reports contradicted their claim of utilizing the funds for road construction.

According to Otti, FEROTEX Construction Company, allegedly involved in the diversion, confessed to never applying for the airport project during Ikpeazu’s tenure.

He hinted at forthcoming forensic audit reports corroborating the allegations against Ikpeazu and expressed his focus on reclaiming the misappropriated funds rather than seeking punitive measures.

Otti stated, “The immediate past governor’s denial is not unexpected. The statement is there, the report is there. By the way, the report will be published very soon.”

The governor also highlighted discrepancies in the company’s involvement, indicating a possible deception in the allocation of funds.

With the spotlight on this financial controversy, the publication of the forensic audit reports is eagerly awaited to shed further light on the matter.
