Breaking: Senate approves Tinubu’s request to appoint 20 special advisers
The Senate has granted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s request to appoint 20 special advisers to work with his administration barely two weeks after official inauguration.
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, read the president’s request on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Tuesday.
Mr. Tinubu did not disclose the identity of the 20 special advisers he planned to appoint in his request before the lawmakers.
The President’s request was later granted after it was read by Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on the floor of the upper legislative chamber.
This is one of the first main exchanges between the new president and the Senate.
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, pledged the commitment of the lawmakers to work with the administration of Bola Tinubu at the resumption of the plenary session in May.
He prayed to God to protect the President and his vice throughout their years in the office.
“We congratulate the President , Bola Ahmad Tinubu, GCFR, and his Vice President, Distinguished Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON for the swearing in of the two leaders yesterday,” he said.
“We pray for more guidance, protection and we commit ourselves to the one or two weeks that we have to work with your administration.”
“Let me equally congratulate all the 28 governors that were sworn-in yesterday across our nation. We pray to Almighty God to guide them and protect them.”
The ninth Senate will officially come to an end by June for the senators-elect to be sworn into the 10th Senate.
