The Nigeria Police Force says a search and rescue operation has commenced to reunite two female students who were abducted from a university hostel in Zamfara state with their families and loved ones.

Police disclosed that an armed gang invaded the private hostel in Gusau, the capital and locked up two guards before kidnapping the students.

The incident has raised fears of insecurity in Zamfara which has in the past seen numerous kidnappings for ransom by bandits.
