JUST IN: Vice President Shettima decorates Adeniyi as Comptroller-General of Customs

Vice President Kashim Shettima has decorated Adewale Bashir Adeniyi, as the Acting Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service at Presidential Villa in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The new head of the Customs Service was decorated a few days after Vice President Shettima had adorned Kayode Egbetokun, the acting Inspector-General of Police.

i-News Nigeria reported that President Bola Bola Tinubu appointed Adeniyi as the temporary Comptroller-General of customs along with other newly appointed security chiefs as his administration hits the ground running.

Adeniyi, who joined the Nigeria Customs Service over 30 years ago, holds a Bachelor of Science in International Relations from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in June 1987 and Master of Arts in Communication Science in November 2013 from the Universitaire Svizzera D’Italiana (USI) – Lugano—Switzerland.

He became popular among his colleagues after he won the Comptroller-General of Customs Award for seizure of $8,065,612 million cash at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, January 2020.

His giant strides earned him national recognition as he was conferred with the National Honour of Member of the Order of Federal Republic (MFR) by former President Muhammadu Buhari in October 2022.

Adeniyi was a Deputy Comptroller General of Customs before his appointment by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
