Hijrah: Islamic scholars urge FG to address inflation, food insufficiency

The federal government has been urged to address the issue of inflation in the country to reduce sufferings among the masses.

National Chairman of Hijrah Organization of Nigeria, Prof Badmas Yusuf made the call while speaking at the celebration of the Hijrah 1445 A.H. in Ilorin the kwara State capital.

According to him the inflation has continued to have negative effects on socio-economic welfare and development of the populace.

Prof Yusuf explained that “the current increase in inflation index has led many families into untold hardship.”

He noted that the recent increase in the pump price of fuel from N515 to N617 per litre, has affected the economic propensity of Nigerians to have money to buy the product.

The professor of Islamic Studies appealed to the state and federal governments to address prevalent situations of insecurity and food shortage in the country.

Yusuf also called on Muslims to be conscious of western conspiracy on the adulterated Quran and anti-Islam literature in circulation.

In his Hijrah message, the National Missioner of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdulmumin Ayara, urged Muslims to continue to live in peace so as to move the nation forward.

In his lecture the Mudiru Markaz, Sheikh Habbebulahi Adam Al-Ilory, represented by Sheikh AbdulRazq Adams Thanni, urged the federal government to address food shortage through promotion of agriculture to ensure sustainable peace in the country.
